10 Great Places to Visit During Night On Broadway

2018 Night on Broadway Street Festival will reopen the Historic Theaters once again to artists and performers and over 75,000 expected guests.

1. The Outdoor Stages

DTLA is one big Love Shack when the B52s perform. Bring in the Cisco Kid and members of Ozomatli plus a total of eight classic live performances on the festival’s Broadway outdoor stages and the night is complete with dance and song.

Night on Broadway 2018 promises to be a whole lot of fun, and I encourage all Angelenos to come out and enjoy a night they will not soon forget,” says Councilmember JosĂ© Huizar.

2. William Close and the Earth Harp

will return to Night on Broadway to transform the 12-story Beaux Art State Theatre office tower into one of the world’s longest stringed instruments – 200 feet of illuminated strings will be suspended from the top of the building to the Earth Harp’s resonating chamber on stage in the middle of the street, putting  the audience inside the ultimate multi-dimensional symphonic concert experience.

3. The Los Angeles Derby Dolls

the 2017 Roller Derby Coalition of Leagues National Champions, will present Dolls on Broadway and showcase their Junior Derby Dolls, ages 7-17, their up-and-coming skaters and elite-level skaters in an action-packed tripleheader. Also performing in the outdoor roller derby rink will be Mariachi/heavy metal band, Metalachi, established in Veracruz, Mexico circa 1982! They are truly a one-of-a-kind band.

4. Two Bit Circus’

interdisciplinary team of artists, engineers and entrepreneurs will bring interactive productions and activities where attendees can explore the fusion of science, technology and creativity. Two Bit Circus will also host the famous Dunk Tank Flambé.

5. TECH ON BROADWAY

Technology Zone, featuring fully interactive virtual reality experiences where participants can scale Mt. Everest or colonize Mars. A seven-story Ferris Wheel will once again offer the greatest seat in the house for riders. And Night on Broadway’s Kids Zone will feature activities, games, and fun for kids of all ages from Party Works Interactive and Two Bit Circus Foundation. There will also be performances by kids for kids all night long!

6. “Silent Disco” by HUSHconcerts, energized by CLIF Bar, will provide irresistibly danceable mixes for a crowd of hundreds dancing in the street to beats created for this unique experience heard only through special headphones.

7. Los Angeles Theater

Superchief Gallery will showcase an exhibition of chandeliers. Outdoors, artists will showcase large format murals, including work from Robert Vargas, Sharktoof, Beau Stanton, Maxwell McMaster, Buckley and many more.

8. BIG ART!!!

large-scale installations from artists including Shrine, Jim Swill, Asli Tusavul with projections from Cloaking, Naruli Studio & Optexture, Thomas McMahan and Girl in VR. Attendees will be able to engage in the experiential work from Cassie Zhang’s interactive forest, witness the future of visual media with H+ Creative, experience Debi Cable’s blacklight installation and see Fill the City’s house of balloons.

9. Lifestyle Car Club will also host a Night on Broadway’s lowrider car show. Established in the 1970s in East Los Angeles, Lifestyle Car Club is one of the oldest and most prestigious car clubs in the world.

10. DOWNTOWN WEEKLY BOOTH

Night on Broadway takes place on Saturday, January 27, 2018, from 3 p.m. to 12 a.m. and will feature programming across six historic theaters and four outdoor stages. Last year’s Night on Broadway drew more than 75,000 and Night on Broadway 2018 promises to be an even bigger success. NOTE: Broadway will be closed to automobiles from 1st St. to Olympic Blvd.
