On the morning of March 30th, streets of Figueroa, 8th and Grand will fill with hordes of energetic teams of friends and family, pets on parade, adoring crowds, barricades and… most of DTLA’s top corporate leaders?
Yes, Downtown’s corporate sector has got the heart to loosen their ties and trade in those office shoes for sneakers, sweatbands, t-shirts and running gear as participants of Dignity Health’s Heart Of the City 5k Run/Walk in benefit of California Hospital Medical Center (CHMC). On this day, traffic and coffee pots will take backstage to water stations and vending booths lining the 5-kilometer course of the race festivities.
When DTLA Hearts Beat As One
Downtown Corporate teams prepare all year for this! The event presents breakfast and coffee in the Coffee Garden, Doggie Costume Contest, photo booth, music, children’s crafts and activities, interactive games, and health and wellness booths.
Keeping a steady pace alongside Honda, FIDM, Brookfield, AEG, and many others, Heart of the City 5K Run/Walk will bring over 3,000 other runners and walkers to fill the streets with 100% of the funds donated to the charity.
DTLA Trivia: Did you know California Hospital Medical Center (CHMC) nonprofit community hospital was founded in 1887?
With the extra help of the City of Los Angeles, office mates, residents, local business owners, and LA’s pets, CHMC will expand critical departments, including the only full-service trauma and emergency center in downtown and a neonatal intensive care unit which cares for the tiniest, most fragile newborns.
Just a Bit of Friendly Competition
DTLA coming together to raise money for a great cause isn’t rare, yet few other fundraisers have so much weight to bear with so many bragging rights. Just ask J.W. Marriot, last year’s Corporate Cup winners.
