Los Angeles Poverty Department is pleased to announce the screening of the documentary “Guns and Mothers”, followed by a group discussion about the history and effects of gun violence in viewers’ communities, on Friday, September 9th, at 7:00pm at the Skid Row History Museum & Archive. Directed by Thom Powers the film’s running time is 53 minutes and focuses on two advocacy groups, The Million Moms and the Second Amendment Sisters, both opposed on gun control, but they agree on one point: mothers will and should have a voice in determining gun control policy in America. GUNS & MOTHERS explores the grassroots beliefs of both movements by focusing on two different women, living in two different Americas: one in Brooklyn, the other in rural Pennsylvania.
