Art At The Rendon presents “STORIES,” an immersive, operatic work that will transform The Rendon located at 2055 East 7th St in the Arts District, through a layering of film projection as well as live performances!
Due to the success of the inaugural event “Hidden Rooms,” presented earlier this summer, Art At The Rendon’s latest production will continue the creative narrative with the building and its colorful history as an icon of the Arts District. “STORIES” will blend film projections with live performances activating the interior and exterior of the now vacant hotel. The original bar, Licha’s Bar and Grill, will be reimagined as a 1920s speakeasy with libations from Arts District favorites: Angel City Brewery, Infuse Spirits and Pali Wine, and music from Vignes Rooftop Revival.
Ralph Ziman will be lead in the project using his film, art, and music backgrounds to create and produce unique content along with experimental filmmaking and local broadcast expert Nolan Silverstein from Dromebox Laboratories and cinematographer Stevie George. Art At The Rendon is an ongoing series of programs that feature the best in art, musical performance, lectures, artist residencies and film screenings seeking to celebrate and support the Arts. Showing off the rich history of the area, Art At The Rendon continues fostering creativity in the downtown Los Angeles District by generating a space for artists to showcase their art, host performances as well as celebrations.
When Ralph Ziman and Maria Greenshields-Ziman were asked their thoughts on what inspires them the most about DTLA or what makes them do what they do, the response was this “We’re inspired by the diverse talent in Downtown LA and we are hoping to encourage the creation of art, and cultivate a creative platform. We are both working artists, and can relate to the struggle many emerging artists face finding spaces to showcase their work, and would like to help in that journey.” Sounds like these two have got what it takes to make something happen for Los Angeles.
