So when the Whisky Extravaganza announced its fall market lineup, consisting of New York City, NY, Chicago, IL, Seattle, WA, and Washington, D.C., among others all of Downtown wondered if the producers would bring the event to Los Angeles. The answer was yes. Featuring more than 100 varieties of the most prestigious single malts, premium Scotch whiskies and other unique whiskies from around the world, this much-anticipated event is set to welcome eager enthusiasts to the Millennium Biltmore Hotel on Friday, November 16, 2018 from 7:30 – 10:00 p.m.
Since 2000, The Whisky Extravaganza has been fostering a broader and deeper appreciation of whisky and its complexities by connecting consumers and brands through curated experiences. Each year, the curated tasting experience offers whisky enthusiasts from the novice to the connoisseur the opportunity to explore a wide range of the most prestigious single malt, premium Scotch whiskies and other unique whiskies from around the world. Hosted in major cities throughout the U.S. (including Houston, Denver, Seattle, etc.), each event features hand-selected premium whiskies from around the world through a tasting session and masterclasses led by industry experts along with culinary pairings. Just in time for the holiday season, this international showcase of the world’s premier whisky brands, including Highland Park, The Glenrothes, Glenfiddich and Brown Forman, The Whisky Extravaganza will feature an extensive selection of whiskies, culinary pairings, whisky cocktails and “Whisky Wisdom” stations for guests to enhance their whisky knowledge. Curated by Gary Crunkleton, a nationally-acclaimed mixologist known for his creative and classic cocktails, the Whisky Wisdom area will spotlight local mixologists and provide guests an opportunity to explore the unique characteristics of various brands, focusing on: Young/Old, Light/Full bodied, Fruit/Floral, and Sweet/Dry/Smoky. All guests will receive a complimentary nosing glass.
Guests with at the Connoisseur level are encouraged to attend masterclasses prior to the tasting led by industry experts from well-established distilleries to take a deep dive into whisky distilling, flavor profiles, history, tradition, and various brand portfolios in an exciting and intimate setting.
