First, there was what seemed like the entire revamp of DTLA’s historic Grand Central Market which came with a whole lot of added neon, spectacular crowds and fancy eateries. Then came Burrata House…
As the name suggests, Burrata House sells fresh paninis and bowls that all include the star ingredient, burrata, a traditional cheese ball made from mozzarella and cream. The outer shell is solid mozzarella, while the inside contains the cream.
Burrata is seen as a “luxury” food item in the US and now DTLA has a “go-to” spot to enjoy high quality ingredients (many of which are imported from Italy) and Di Stefano cheese is known to make the best.
Never Just a Food Truck
Founded by entrepreneurs from the north and south of Italy and their ultimate goal is to give people in LA the option to get affordable but authentic and high-quality Italian food.
The companies first brick and mortar as initially just a space in Culver City that was supposed to be just a place for them to prepare food for their popular food truck but the demand was so high that they ended up putting tables outside and stools inside to serve people there.
Today, the food truck is used to store dry ingredients and as an accent, fitting nicely beside their vendor booth (which used to be the main information booth at GCM).
Burrata House is open everyday from 10:30 AM to 8:30 PM. The food stall is just past the funky neon sign on the north western wall. Burrata House – 324 S Hill Street www.burratahouse.com
