With the temperatures rising, The Los Angeles Biergarten is the ideal spot to watch a game, grab some of Downtownâs favorite beers, and catch up with some old friends and make some new friends at the bar or at their main dining room.
“For the most part the atmosphere at the Los Angeles Biergarten is a very pleasant and comfortable one – No Rush⊠because beer is better enjoyed in each and every sip. To us, beer is one of those âGreat Equalizersâ in life,” declares owner Sergio Vazquez.
Located at 750 South Broadway, the Los Angeles Biergarten opened in September of 2015 with the goal of serving the residents of the Jewelry District, and visitors to the Downtown area. The space it occupies is nearly 4,000 sq. ft. and itâs situated right along with many bustling theaters, retail stores, and emerging new businesses along Broadway on the ground floor of the historic Chapman Building.
The Chapman, a 13-story beaux arts building, was constructed in 1912, more than a decade before Broadway became downtownâs jazziest entertainment district, lined with motion picture palaces. The Los Angeles Investment Co. built it at a cost of $1 million. Designed by architect Ernest McConnell, the building was said to be fireproof. It has mahogany doorways, sweeping marble stairways and wrought-iron letters âLAâ marking each stair railing.
In 1920, Charles Clarke Chapman — Fullertonâs first mayor and the chief benefactor of Chapman University — bought the building for $1.6 million.
The so-called Orange King of California — who built his fortune on citrus and real estate — made it his headquarters. He added bronze elevator doors ornately embossed with the letter âCâ.
Steps away from L.A. Biergarten is the iconic Globe Theater, it boasts the title; First Legitimate Broadway Theater, predating the Big Apple!
The luminous marquee, with its bold block letters, draws in crowds like moths into a bug zapper. Once in the Broadway Downtown Theater District, why not kick back and enjoy a cold frosty one at theLos Angeles Biergarten.
The Los Angeles Biergarten was designed for the beer drinker who wants to unwind, enjoy a scrumptious snack, and plenty of elbow room at the seat-yourself dining room or counter bar. Beer Halls in Germany are usually large in size which creates a special ambiance of community and unity while enjoying one of the most popular drinks in the world – Beer. Offering 100 different beers on draft, and over 40 bottled beer selections- you are sure to find your favorite beer style available.
They offer a large Main Dining Room with a capacity of over 200 seated guests but also have a Mezzanine that overlooks the main room and can accommodate over 60 seated guests adorned with historic accents, railings, and lettering from much of its heyday.
At first, you may feel overwhelmed by the selection. With names such as Radeberger, Guldan Drak, Warsteiner, there is no shortage of frosty cold beers, ales, and lagers to pair with a surprisingly diverse menu. This isnât your standard âbar foodâ. For instance, an Asian chicken salad, a Bavarian pretzel or a vegan apple and sage sausage, unique to any bar in the area.
âAlthough our beer menu seems very large it alone contains plenty of useful information for the customer to be able to select their favorite beer of choice. Beer Name, Beer Style, Brewery Name, Country of Origin, Alcohol by Volume, are all printed on our menu pagesâ.
Next, comes the assistance or information from their staff.
As a team, we all strive to help and suggest beers to customers based on answers from several opening questions.
The wall to wall TVâs show every Lakerâs and Clipperâs game. Spring means L.A. Dodgers and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (still sounds weird) To all Baseball fans, this makes it one of Downtownâs favorite sports bars.
Los Angeles Biergarten is a popular institution and extraordinary pillar of the vibrant Downtown community.
