Tune in for This Year’s MTV Virtual VMAs, Sunday, August 30th!
In just a few days, the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards will be kicking off virtually in celebration of the pop, rock, rap, and hip hop influences that have not only dominated musically this year, but have persevered even in the face of a global pandemic.
Keke Palmer will be hosting the 2020 MTV VMAs LIVE on Sunday, August 30th at 8pm ET/PT. The 2020 MTV VMAs will feature groundbreaking performances and highly-anticipated appearances by massive artists like DaBaby, The Black Eyed Peas, Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, The Weeknd, BTS, and more.
For the first time ever, the MTV VMAs will feature a live performance by ‘Bop’ artist DaBaby, who has proven himself as a powerhouse in topping the charts and collaborating with other entertainers this year. DaBaby is up for three nominations: Artist of the Year, Best Hip-Hop: “Bop”, and “Best Choreography: “Bop”. Based on the Charlotte rapper’s impressive track record, it will be a shock if he does not take home at least one of these titles.
The Black Eyed Peas will also be taking the stage for the first time ever at the 2020 VMAs. The Los Angeles trio is of course no stranger to the scene, having produced countless hit records and amassed millions of fans over the past 25 years; “Thanks to our fans who made this all possible, and we’re going to give them something very special with our first-ever performance of ‘Vida Loca’”, Will.i.am, founding member of The Black Eyed Peas, tells MTV.
The lineup is guaranteed to impress. Plus, you won’t regret tuning in earlier than 8pm – Catch exclusive pre-show performances by Jack Harlow, Blackbear, Lewis Capaldi, and more, LIVE at 6:30pm ET/PT.
Fans casted votes across 15 categories and have determined the 2020 bests, from “Artist of the Year” and “Song of the Year” to “Best Quarantine Performance” and “Best Music Video From Home”. The artists leading with the most nominations are Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga, The Weeknd, and Billie Eilish.
Fans will still be able to vote for Best Group and PUSH Best New Artist by chatting with @VMAs on Twitter. Be sure to follow the MTV VMA’s on all social media platforms for updates, and visit mtvpress.com for previous announcements and additional information.
This weekend, take a break from the woes of the world and just enjoy the music. The 2020 MTV “VMAs” help remind us that the tenacity of the music industry coupled with the loyalty of its fans is too big of a match for something like COVID-19. Someday, we will get to go back to live concerts. Until then, we will do what we need to do and have as much fun doing it.
