The Women’s March Los Angeles will bring Scarlett Johansson, Chloe Bennet, Rowan Blanchard, Yvette Nicole Brown, Sophia Bush, Laverne Cox, Lea DeLaria, Tony Goldwyn, Paris Jackson, Megan Mullally, Olivia Munn, Nicole Richie, Catt Sadler, Adam Scott, Olivia Wilde, Larry Wilmore, and Alfre Woodard, among others to the Historic Core Saturday, January 20th.
Women Who Vote!
This year the Women’s March LA Foundation is committed to turning out the vote and hopes to use the power of the upcoming March, along with the work being done by partner organizations, to bring attention to the urgency of preparing for the November midterm elections. The March will encourage participants to use their vote in order to help build a government that reflects their ideals, and will provide the tools to do so by having voter registration available on-site. Speakers will address important issues such as voter turnout, access, restrictions and intimidation and will discuss a plan of action leading up to November 2018 and beyond.
Promising almost 1mill
Last year’s inaugural Women’s March was a huge success with an incredible 750,000 Los Angelenos coming together for the cause. Taking place on January 20th in Downtown Los Angeles, this year’s event will feature music, art, community and speakers all aligned with the National Women’s March Unity Principles of ending violence, protection of reproductive rights, LGBTQIA rights, workers’ rights, civil rights, disability rights, immigrant rights, Indigenous people’s rights and environmental justice. The event will kick off in Pershing Square at 8:30AM with some very special speakers, followed by the March at 10:00AM, which will bring everyone to Grand Park. Festivities are expected to continue until 3:00PM.
Enter the Gay Men’s Chorus
This year, Idina Menzel, Andra Day, Rachel Platten, Maxwell, and The Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles with Melissa Etheridge are also set to perform. Other special guests include Mayor Eric Garcetti, GLAAD President Sarah Kate Ellis, Los Angeles LGBT Center CEO Lorri L. Jean, civil rights advocate Kimberlé Williams Crenshaw, Planned Parenthood Los Angeles President & CEO Sue Dunlap, Black Lives Matter’s Melina Abdullah, ACLU of Southern California Executive Director Hector Villagra, Supervisor Hilda L. Solis, and more. Women’s March Los Angeles is part of a national movement to unify and empower those who stand for women’s rights, human rights, civil liberties and social justice for all.
