The Lakers have the Clippers, the Dodgers have the Angels, now the Los Angeles Galaxy have an L.A. rival to boot.
On Sunday, April 29th, the brand new Major League Soccer franchise, the Los Angeles Football Club will host their inaugural game against the Seattle Sounders, at 6:00 PM in the new Banc Of California Stadium.
The intimate stadium holds 22,000 people.
It’s located steps from the Coliseum at the heart of Exposition Park. In addition, it boasts the steepest incline providing the fans a panoramic view of the field. Front row seats are a mere twelve feet from the field.
The $350 million dollar stadium contains restaurants, shopping, and a conference and event center open for use 365 days a year. MLS commissioner Don Garber attended the star-studded unveiling last Wednesday.LAFC owners Magic Johnson, Nomar Garciaparra, Mia Hamm-Garciaparra Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and LAFC coach Bob Bradley were all in attendance.
“Our stadium is amazing, being able to play in a completely new place is going to be very nice and we are all excited to play in front of our fans,” Carlos Vela, star of the club said after training at the new venue. The game is already sold out, LAFC has already sold its maximum 17,500 season tickets for the 22,000-seat stadium, meaning fans can only buy single-game tickets in the North End supporters’ section and other spots around the field.
Los Angeles loves a winner, a tough lesson the Chargers have learned thus far. Fortunately, LAFC currently is second in the Western Conference.
Banc of California Stadium will also hold a ceremonial opener between LAFC and German club Borussia Dortmund on May 22. The stadium is located at 3939 S Figueroa St. Can everyone shout GOAL!
