Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation (LADF)  invited more than 300 pre-selected schoolchildren for a day of fun and games at their Annual Children’s Holiday Party.

Dodger’s Justin Turner showed up to play ball with his littlest fans.

There were toys for each youngster. The kids also took part in writing to children in hospitals and a Winter Wonderland created by Artic Glacier Ice. Home Run Dodgers!

 Meet the heavy hitters.

Downtown Weekly spoke with Naomi Rodriguez, Vice President of External Affairs for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Rodriguez stated, “We target kids that are underserved and those who wouldn’t have a normal holiday. We’re giving them a great time today.”

And a great time it was. Executive Director of the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation, Nicole Whiteman, was there to greet the children as well.

Spanning the field, groups of children were sorted by grade. One group had one of the Dodger’s mascots surrounded with high fives, while another played ball with former Dodger team members getting a chance to swing on Joc Pederson, Dodger outfielder from the Dodger’s mound.

Rotating between activities, the children found themselves picking up Dodger clothing and baseball caps, sport’s pointers, food, and at one stop, snow.

Children wrote letters to other children in hospitals as part of an art project and took a group shot with all involved that was broadcast across the world.

Neighborhood schools partaking in the Children’s Holiday party were Ann Street Elementary School, Castelar Elementary School, Clifford Math and Technology Magnet, Doris Place Elementary, Elysian Heights Elementary School, Logan Academy of Global Ecology, Solano Avenue Elementary School, Worthington Elementary School from Inglewood Unified School District and KIPP Vida Preparatory Academy.
