The Darker Side of Little Damage

Downtown Los Angeles would have remained pretty much the same if a little-known ice cream parlor had not opened a new palate-assaulting frontier at the corner of 7th and Spring in February of last year. Suddenly, our neighborhood experienced an awakening as dark became delicious, and Goth-inspired ice cream advanced, ready to conquer the city.

Owner and concept maker Jenny aka Jenny Damage (a name given to the shy, petite ice cream superhero during her first interview with Downtown Weekly), just like most of us, grew up worshiping and craving ice cream. At one time Jenny stated that she fulfilled that urge religiously by eating a pint of ice cream a day.

Over the years, Jenny became a die-hard ice cream enthusiast until an ominous adversary started challenging her sweet escapade: lactose. Lactose intolerance had crept in on padded feet, invaded her life and was not in a hurry to leave.

Threatened by a formidable adversary that traumatized her insides whenever she tried to satisfy her cravings, Jenny had to slow down on her favorite dessert.

But Jenny was determined not to give up her sweet tooth, so, she bid her time. Like a seasoned warrior who does not rush to battle, she studied the tactics of her formidable enemy and examined all the chinks in his armor.

Eventually, she found a way to punch back, turning the dilapidated storefront on Spring and 7th into what’s now known as a DTLA’s ice cream, alter universe.

Shazaaam! Little Damage ice cream parlor was born. Jenny was not only free to enjoy her favorite dessert with utmost abandon but could now share it with the world using a new and unique approach.

The evil inside you craves ice cream.

We all know that devious, insidious, little voice that keeps pestering you for everything creamy and icy…

Well, Little Damage simply found a way to satisfy it and silence it, albeit temporarily and safely.

So, what happens when you indulge in the irresistible sweet treat?  Let’s just say suffer a-Little Damage! No irreparable harm done.

Little Damage creates soft serve ice cream with a light consistency and devoid of unnecessary sugar additions hence doing little damage to your body.

Little Damage is known for offering many unique favors, but among their best is the delicious, black ice cream. Throw in black hand-rolled waffle cones and you have a shop that stands out among the sea of DTLA ice cream outlets.

Wondering what gives this black, creamy treat its distinct color? A mysterious, distilled evil concoction, perhaps? Relax; it is nothing close to what the Evil Queen put in Cinderella’s apple.

In her pursuit for a healthy ice cream offering, Jenny turned to something few people would expect in ice cream: activated charcoal.

Yes, you heard right; the black coloring on your ice cream-licking tongue is the result of activated charcoal.

Yup, the Goth ice cream is as good as it looks, and healthy too.
