Eagles Soar Over Patriots To Win First Ever Super Bowl

The Philadelphia Eagles upset the juggernaut New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII in a thrilling display of points and big plays, the Eagles defeated the New England Patriots,41-33, on Sunday, February 4th from U.S. Bank stadium in Minnesota.

The Eagles embraced being the underdog, led by Quarterback Nick Foles, who earned Super Bowl MVP, these Eagles were bold and aggressive in their play calling, the franchise captured their first-ever Super Bowl title.

Including a daring decision to go for the touchdown on 4th and goal from the 1-yard line. The Eagles chose this opportunity to run a trick play, Nick Foles was unseen in the end zone as the Wide Receiver threw him a short pass.

The old adage is:

Defense wins championships. Well, it was apparent this game was an exception to the rule. 74 points is a record, as well as more than 1,000 combined yards.

The game got rocking early as Foles threw a deep strike 34-yards to a leaping Alshon Jeffery. Foles threw for 373 yards, 2 TD’s and a touchdown reception. The Eagles held a 22-12 lead going into halftime.

The Patriots stormed back in the second half, scoring on their first three possessions to take a brief lead at 33-32, the 7-yard TD pass to Rob Gradkowski gave the Patriots their first lead of the game. It seemed the Pats and QB Tom Brady was going to earn their sixth Vince Lombardi trophy.

Brady threw for a SB record, 505 yards,3TD’s and was brilliant in his eighth Super Bowl appearance. Late in the fourth quarter, the Eagles marched 71 yards down the field, in a drive which lasted more than seven minutes for the game-winning touchdown. After converting a dangerous 4th down-Foles punctuated the drive with a 7 yard TD pass to Tight End Zach Ertz.

The Patriots final possession ended in an Eagles stand, Brady loaded up and Defensive End Brandon Graham stripped the ball. A final hail mary as time expired fell to the ground.

 

The city of Brotherly Love is still flying on cloud nine.
