COLDXELA 2019 will feature more than 50 homebrewers from all over Los Angeles County pouring over a dozen styles of craft beer and ciders. The homebrew participants can also win titles and prizes in the judged competitions, including a people’s choice. As guests sip and taste, their knowledge and education about homebrewing will increase through videos and demonstrations, in an effort to teach, involve, and honor the tradition. Live music performances by LA’s top favorites include Tropi Corillo, Scarlett & The Fever, Viva Mescal, Subsuelo Crew and Fayuca. Tasty treats provided by Zanetas Vegan Kitchen, Pizza Express, East LA BBQ Co, and Goat Mafiato name a few.

First and Only Latino HomeBrew Club

The first and only Latino homebrew club in the United States, SoCal Cerveceros (SCC) was founded on a passion for homebrew and a love of craft beer. COLDXELA is the festival spotlight of this passion, bringing homebrewing, music, and local chefs together to support youth-led entrepreneurial ventures in the community.

“There’s a synergy between the SoCal Cerveceros (SCC) and the Gumball Foundation,” states Founder and CEO Ezequiel Olvera.  “We’re tied together by supporting social good through entrepreneurship and creating business pathways.”

The Gumball Foundation helps students start and run their own micro ventures as incentives to save for, and attend four-year institutions.  The SoCal Cerveceros focuses on Latino-owned businesses and entrepreneurship through homebrewing. The merging of these endeavors highlights the entrepreneurial opportunity and commitment by both to promote social good and support local communities.

The Gumball Foundation has partnered with SoCal Cerveceros to create mutual synergy for social good through entrepreneurship and support of local constituents (both youth and adult entrepreneurs), local vendors, and small businesses by providing economic opportunity and a platform for homebrewers to share their craft beyond their homes via COLDXELA while raising funds for the Gumball Foundation.
